Robert Downey Jr.wants to make Sherlock Holmes his life project.
The Iron Man star says he is so wrapped up in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle‘s famous detective character that he wants to play him into old age.
“My dream would be for Holmes to become to detective movies what James Bond is to spy movies,” says Robert.
“The only difference being I don’t get retired as Holmes in favor of a younger actor. They’ll have to prise the role from my clenched fists first!”
Robert who was arrested a number of times on drug-related charges from 1996 to 2001 recently revealed that he once wore a monkey mask to stop people knowing he was “blitzed”.
“About 20 years ago I went on a tear, and I put on a Planet of the Ape mask that would keep people from knowing how blitzed I was,” he said. “It worked for about the first 15 seconds, ‘It’s me, Cornelius!’ “
